Who found Busia man in borehole?
According to NTV, the man who was identified as Charles Were had been missing since his wife's death.
His body was later discovered in a borehole after a boy fetching water noticed a foul smell and alerted church officials.
"He tried to fetch water but faced some resistance, likely because the jerrican kept hitting a body. The strong smell confirmed someone was inside," a resident said.
"Someone brought a torch and used it to look inside the borehole, confirming it was indeed Charles Were," another resident said.
The local police were alerted to the discovery and began efforts to retrieve the body from the borehole.
News of Were's death has raised questions among locals, as he was known as both a guard and choir member at the Catholic church where his body was found.
"It is a big blow, and to make matters worse, he died on the church compound. To me, that looks like an abomination. This is not normal, and the right steps need to be taken to cleanse this place because it is a holy place," one man said.
Local residents who gathered at the scene following the grim discovery urged married couples to seek help from religious leaders when they begin experiencing trouble in their marriages.

Chebet had recently moved back in with her estranged husband, Samuel Njoroge, sharing the house with her brother, Harrison.
According to Harrison, a neighbour saw Chebet and Njoroge enter the house together at around 9 pm on Saturday. About 90 minutes later, the neighbour said Njoroge was seen leaving, wearing a mask.
Harrison, who works night shifts, arrived home between midnight and 1 am and found Chebet asleep on the couch, covered with a blanket.
Thinking she was simply resting, he let her be. However, when he tried to wake her the next morning, he discovered she had been dead for hours, with injuries pointing to a violent assault.
