Nairobi - Four suspects linked to the brutal murder of Kasipul Member of Parliament, Charles Ong'ondo Were, have been arrested.

The arrest was made on Saturday night May 3, in an operation at Nairobi's Eastlands area led by the technical team Operations Support Unit based at the DCI headquarters.
DCI director Mohamed Amin had earlier confirmed a breakthrough in the case, stating:
"We have one key suspect, and we are looking for more," he said.
Amin further revealed that detectives are focusing on tracking down the weapon used in the murder, determining the motive, identifying the accomplices, and locating the motorcycle involved in the attack.

Moreover, detectives investigating the case also recovered a car and three motorcycles believed to have been used by the suspects to trail the victim.
Previously, security cameras had captured the vehicle on multiple streets, including Parliament Building, Kenyatta Avenue, Jakaya Kikwete Road, Wabera Street, Argwings Kodhek Road, City Hall Way, and Valley Road—routes the MP had used before he was gunned down.
Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has lauded the police for their progress in investigating the case and urged them to provide regular updates on the matter.

The gunman who shot Were at point-blank range during a traffic jam along Ngong Road was reportedly wearing a hood to conceal his identity.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and are urging the arrested suspects to provide details on the weapon used, the motive behind the murder, and the other individuals involved in the crime.

Meanwhile, Kaluma shared chilling details of the moments he found the lifeless body of the slain Kasipul MP lying in Nairobi Hospital.
Kaluma said the body bore multiple gunshot wounds — including injuries to the hands, sides, shoulder, and abdomen — suggesting a brutal and calculated attack.

He noted that the nature of the shooting indicated the victim may have attempted to seek cover after the initial shot, only to be gunned down further.
Kaluma believes the assassination was executed with such precision and confidence that it could only have been carried out by an individual with insider knowledge and advanced security training, capable of trailing a legislator’s vehicle through police-monitored traffic undetected.
