Kiambu: A dramatic moment unfolded during Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s visit to Gatundu constituency when a man attempted to present him with a chicken as a gift.

The deputy president was speaking at the Gatundu North Constituency Economic Empowerment Programme held at Igegania Primary School grounds.
During the event, Kindiki highlighted the government’s commitment to economic empowerment, including initiatives targeting small-scale traders such as bodaboda riders and mama mboga.

He noted the construction of 27 modern markets in Kiambu, equipped with cold storage, ICT hubs, and expanded trading spaces to support local commerce.
He also announced that sufficient resources are now available to complete stalled road projects and extend electricity to more households.

As the man approached the podium, security officers swiftly intervened, forcefully pushing him back into the crowd, prompting an uproar from onlookers.
Kindiki intervened, urging the officers not to harm the man before resuming his address.
"Leave him alone. Do not hurt him!" he ordered.
The incident sparked mixed reactions online, with some Kenyans raising concerns about the conduct of security personnel and the broader implications for public engagement with leaders.

Migori man accidentally hurls shoe at Ruto
Meanwhile, the incident occurred the same day a resident unintentionally hurled a shoe at President William Ruto as he addressed residents in Kehancha, Kuria West.

The man at the centre of the drama was seen humorously pretending to record the speech using his shoe, mimicking others who were filming with smartphones.
Another individual then struck the shoe, causing it to fly toward Ruto and narrowly miss his head.
In response, digital strategist and presidential ally Dennis Itumbi launched a search for the man, promising to gift him a real phone to support his content creation journey.
