In Oyugis town, NACADA officers working alongside the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) and police officers carried out an intelligence-led operation.
The early morning raid resulted in the arrest of two individuals believed to be key players in the distribution of narcotics and smuggled products within the region.
Authorities recovered 400 packets of uncustomed Supermatch cigarettes and 14 packets of Oris cigarettes, raising suspicions of a widespread contraband ring operating under the radar of customs enforcement.
In addition to the cigarettes, the operatives discovered a significant amount of cash in different denominations, suspected to be proceeds from the illicit drug and contraband trade.
"The contraband cigarettes are thought to have been smuggled into the country without customs clearance, contravening revenue and trade regulations. The suspects are currently being held at Oyugis Police Station pending further investigation," NACADA explained.
Was NACADA's operation in Kisii a success?
Simultaneously, in Kisii county’s Nyakongo village, located in Kitutu Central sub-county, NACADA joined forces with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the ANU Nyanza Region in a well-coordinated crackdown.
Acting on credible intelligence, the team stormed a residential property where they uncovered a cache of suspected narcotic substances hidden in plain sight.
The operation yielded two 90-kilogram sacks of dried plant material believed to be bhang, along with 134 brooms suspected to be laced or infused with narcotic compounds.
The use of such disguised substances highlights the evolving tactics used by drug traffickers to elude law enforcement.

Eight individuals were apprehended at the scene and are now in police custody as the legal process kicks off.
These back-to-back operations come barely a month after NACADA successfully dismantled a major drug distribution ring in Kisii, reportedly linked to a notorious drug baron.
NACADA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting communities from the devastating impact of drug and substance abuse.
The authority credited the success of the Kisii and Homa Bay raids to enhanced collaboration between multiple security and intelligence agencies.
