Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage has captured a man stealing a phone from a water ATM in Kitengela, Kajiado county.

In the clip shared on Facebook, the man is seen standing at the shop while the attendant was away.

He appeared to be a regular customer waiting to be served, frequently glancing towards the road and around him to check if anyone was watching.

He leaned over the slab separating the customer area from the interior of the shop, spotted the phone, and carefully stretched out his hand to take it.

After successfully stealing the phone, he walked slowly out of the shop, posing as an ordinary customer.

Netizens criticize Kitengela thief

Social media users expressed frustration, noting that despite the presence of surveillance, petty crimes like this continue to happen in public spaces.

The footage sparked renewed calls for people to remain vigilant and for shop owners to be more cautious with personal belongings.

In other news, TUKO.co.ke reported that a man was captured on camera stealing a laptop from the Exodus International Migration office based in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu county.

The footage showed the man swiftly grabbing the laptop from a table, hiding it under his sweater, and walking out of the premises.

TUKO.co.ke also reported that a surveillance camera captured the moment a car wash attendant stole a pistol from a client.

The client reported the firearm, which was loaded with 15 rounds, missing—stating that he had left it inside his car.

Police began investigations and, after reviewing the CCTV footage, the suspect was arrested on Loita Street in Nairobi.
