How did KDF put up a colourful show in Homa Bay

On Monday, May 26, the KDF put up a colourful show as they staged their final rehearsal ahead of the national fete.

The stadium grounds buzzed with activity as KDF personnel, dressed in their ceremonial uniforms, moved with precision, rehearsing every detail of the upcoming parade.

The air was filled with the steady rhythm of marching boots on tarmac, punctuated by the sharp commands of drill sergeants ensuring flawless execution.

At the heart of the ceremony was Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Charles Kahariri, who joined in the parade.

However, Kahariri played the part of the head of state in the rehearsal, inspecting the guard of honour riding in the presidential Command In Chief (CIC) vehicle.

General Kahariri’s inspection was meticulous, slowly walking past the line of soldiers standing at attention.

Governor Gladys Wanga, alongside national and county leaders, including Cabinet Secretaries Salim Mvurya and Opiyo Wandayi, watched the proceedings closely.

The National Celebrations Steering Committee, led by Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, joined the CDF in overseeing the rehearsals.

Paratroopers also showed off some of their skills, jumping from the skies and gliding into the stadium to the excitement of those present.

The rehearsal wasn’t limited to foot drills as servicemen and women drawn from different disciplines joined in the activities.

How will Homa Bay benefit from Madaraka Day

As earlier reported, Homa Bay county, hosting Kenya's 61st Madaraka Day, marks a significant opportunity for regional development.

Governor Wanga expressed enthusiasm about showcasing the county's beauty and diversity.

Key projects include a KSh 500 million expansion of Raila Odinga Stadium, increasing its capacity from 2,000 to 20,000 seats, and upgrades to Kabunde Airstrip and local highways to improve connectivity.

Wanga anticipated economic boosts through tourism and job creation, particularly for youth and women.
