Construction works for the house started in April 2025 after Kindiki pledged to ensure the family gets a decent home.

The deputy president also expressed his readiness to ensure that Sniper’s widow and children receive the needed support and dignity.

Kindiki made the pledges when Meru governor Mutuma M’Ethingia visited him at his office in Nairobi.

On Monday, June 2, the county boss visited the blogger’s family in Igembe East Constituency to inspect the ongoing construction work. The main house is already complete, with workers now setting up a perimeter wall.

Speaking during the visit, Governor Mutuma expressed concerns over delayed justice for the slain blogger’s family.

He pledged to support the family in pursuing justice for their kin.

“MP Dan Kiili, MCA Muri and I will help the family to find a lawyer to represent them. The person who killed Sniper, and the one who planned for him to go to Mutindwa, must be brought to justice,” the governor said.

Sniper’s body was discovered in December 2023 near River Mutonga. An autopsy later revealed that he had been tortured and killed.

Why has blogger Sniper not been buried?

Over one year later, the body remains in the mortuary, over a land row, but the family and local leaders now want it to be released for burial.

According to the Meru governor, Sniper’s burial should be conducted as soon as possible. He asked the family to address any issues stopping his burial.

“Delay is not denial, but we cannot preserve Sniper’s body forever. If I were to be asked, I’d say Sniper should be buried before the end of July,” Mutuma said.

Similar sentiments were shared by Sniper’s mother, Ann Kanjira.

Ann admitted that the delayed burial of her son had taken a toll on them as they endured the trauma of seeking answers to his brutal murder.

“As Governor Mutuma has suggested, please don’t let the burial go beyond July. No one leaves a corpse in the house and moves on with life. You must go back and lay it to rest,” the mother emotionally said.

A case in which suspects linked to the blogger’s abduction, torture and murder is set for hearing this week from Wednesday, June 4, to Friday, June 6.

Who are the suspects in blogger Sniper's murder?

Previously, TUKO.co.ke reported that former Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza's brother, Murangiri Kenneth Guantai, was among those suspected to be involved in blogger Sniper's murder.

Guantai and his co-accused Vincent Mureithi have since been charged with murder.

The Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (ODPP) gave a green light for the prosecution of the two, arguing that there was sufficient evidence to sustain a murder charge against them.
