Will Nairobi man found stealing dustbin be charged?
In a statement, Mosiria said the man, who had managed to break the newly installed dustbin, had intended to sell the dustbin as scrap metal.
The youthful chief officer stated that the man would serve as a lesson to others plotting to steal the newly installed bins.
"We apprehended a young man who was caught stealing county street dustbins. This serves as a stern warning to anyone involved in stealing or vandalizing public dustbins with the intent to sell them as scrap metal -you will not be spared.
"Such individuals will face the full force of the law. Impunity must be stopped at all costs, and the protection of public resources is non-negotiable. We urge all residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities. Let’s work together to safeguard what belongs to all of us," Mosiria said.
In a video accompanying the statement, Mosiria questioned the suspect about the details of the theft, including other accomplices and how he managed to break into the dustbin.
At first, the suspect claimed that a Nairobi county staff member had unlocked the bin for him and instructed him to carry it but later changed his statement.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Mosiria urged the public to remain vigilant and work with the county officers to protect public property.
He disclosed that the county will reward anyone who shares information about criminals destroying public assets.
"These public utilities are vital, and we must ensure they are protected for both current and future generations. I want to sincerely thank the concerned citizens whose quick action led to the arrest. I urge all residents to remain vigilant and continue working with us to protect public property. Environmental conservation is a shared responsibility. We shall reward anyone who helps us get thieves of dustbins and any other public asset," Mosiria said.
Who are manning dustbins in Nairobi CBD?
Earlier, Mosiria disclosed that Governor Johnson Sakaja's administration had established proper mechanisms, including deploying officers to guard the bins day and night.
The youthful chief officer warned that anyone found littering or spitting in public spaces would be arrested and charged.
He firmly stated that the new dustbins are strictly meant to be used by pedestrians and not hawkers or business people in the CBD.
