What happened to PC Bernard Koome?

According to police reports, Koome had spotted a suspicious motorcycle and attempted to intercept it.

The rider, however, left the motorbike and fled on foot while firing indiscriminately.

During the exchange, PC Koome was shot in the neck and later succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at a Thika hospital.

A subsequent search at the scene led to the recovery of two spent 9mm cartridges and a CZ pistol magazine loaded with four rounds of ammunition.

The incident has heightened tensions among Kenyans, many of whom have rallied in support of the fallen officer.

While recent cases have placed some police officers under public scrutiny for alleged misconduct, PC Koome has been widely remembered as a dedicated and committed officer who died in the line of duty while protecting his community.

2 police officers interdicted after shooting street vendor

Meanwhile, two police officers, Klinzy Barasa Masinde and Duncan Kiprono, have been interdicted following the shooting of 22-year-old mask seller Boniface Kariuki.

The officers allegedly approached Kariuki during chaotic demonstrations in Nairobi, where Masinde reportedly shot him in the head at close range.

Kariuki remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit at Kenyatta National Hospital, where he is recovering after a successful surgery to remove the bullets. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
