The deceased's father, Justus Saenyi, told TUKO.co.ke that the man had insisted on making advances to his daughter despite knowing that she had been married for over 12 years.
He further said the man had threatened to kill his daughter last week. The matter was reported to the police, but no action was allegedly taken.
“My daughter told me that Jeff had threatened to kill her if she refused to become his lover. On Thursday, she reported to the Naisambu Police Post that the man had called and told her that the knife to kill her was ready.
Sadly, the officers did not take the matter seriously. I blame them for their laxity. Had they acted, my daughter would still be alive today,” the father said in an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke.
The man is alleged to have stabbed the woman three times, twice on the neck and once at the back.
She was taken to Cherang’any Nursing Home by neighbours, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body has since been moved to the Wamalwa Kijana Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, awaiting postmortem.
“All we need as a family is justice and accountability from our police officers. We ask for drastic reforms so that we don’t lose more lives due to negligence,” said the woman’s father.
Reports indicate that the man behind the heinous act was a taxi driver in Nairobi. He is believed to have travelled to Kitale on Thursday, June 19, to execute his plan.
Murder suspect found dead in lodging
Following the incident, police launched a manhunt for the suspect, whose lifeless body was later found in a lodging in Moi’s Bridge Township, a few kilometres from the crime scene.
“While we were still looking for him, we received reports that a man had been found dead in Moi’s Bridge area. Our officers went to the scene and established that the body belonged to the man we were looking for,” Kiminini sub-county police commander John Onditi told TUKO.co.ke.
