The attack occurred as a group of officers was overwhelmed and forced to retreat amid heavy stone-throwing.

The injured officer, who was seen bleeding from the head, received first aid from human rights activist Hussein Khalid and several protesters before being rushed to the hospital for further treatment.

Meanwhile, in Mombasa, a group of private security guards came to the aid of another police officer who found himself trapped in the middle of an agitated crowd.

The guards managed to safely extract the officer from the scene, preventing further escalation.

The unrest reflects mounting public frustration and growing tensions between protesters and security forces, with calls for justice and accountability echoing loudly across the country.

Fellow demonstrators quickly came to her aid, and medics on the ground provided emergency first aid, bandaging her wounds.

According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred near the GPO stage when a police vehicle passed by and officers allegedly hurled a tear gas canister into the crowd.

The canister struck the woman directly, severely injuring her mouth and knocking out several teeth.

Meanwhile, speaking during a funeral in Kilifi, President William Ruto appealed to protesters to uphold the law and avoid acts of violence, urging them to remember that Kenya is their only home.

Striking a conciliatory tone, the president emphasised the importance of unity and national cohesion, stating that destructive demonstrations only serve to undermine progress.

Ruto maintained that the country should channel its energy towards constructive nation-building efforts rather than engaging in unrest, reiterating the government's commitment to economic growth and service delivery for all citizens.
