Kilimani Police Boss Engages in Heated Exchange with Gen Zs Chanting 'Wantam': "Nani Alimchagua"
- The country's youth came out in large numbers on Wednesday, June 25, to protest in commemoration of those who died during the 2024 anti-Finance Bill demos
- During the protests, the Gen Zs kept chanting anti-William Ruto slogans, stating that he would only rule for one term

Nairobi: As the Gen Z demonstrations gained momentum in Kilimani on Wednesday, June 25, the area deputy OCPD William Sifuna tried to talk the youth out of it.

The OCPD was seen calling out youth chanting the 'Wantam' slogan.
He asserted that it was Kenyans who voted for President William Ruto, and therefore should support him.

"Who elected him? Aren't you the ones who voted for him? If your father becomes the president tomorrow, I will support him," Sifuna said.

In response, Gen Z stated that their parents are the ones who elected Ruto in the 2022 General Election, emphasising that they want nothing to do with him.
"Our parents are the ones who voted for him. Sisi hatumtaki!" the young men said.
Sifuna further stated that the police have a role to protect the government that Kenyans voted for. In addition, the police boss advised the youth to stay safe as their lives were very important.
"Kijana, Kijana maisha yako ni ya maana. When the time comes, you will vote for who you want," Sifuna added.
One youth interjected and asked Sifuna why the police officers were killing Kenyans, yet he claimed life was important.
"Hakuna hiyo! Na mbona mnatuua," the Gen Zs were heard saying.
In an angry rhetoric, the officer called out to the youth, asking them to leave the crowd that had already gathered.
"Get out of here! Kichwa ngumu wewe!" Sifuna lashed out.
The youth were heard shouting that the head of state would not rule for a second term, seemingly stating that they are frustrated with his government.
How did Kenyans react to OCPD's remarks?
Kenyans took to their social media platforms to comment on the officer's claims, with some terming him a good police officer, while others focused on how angry he got.
Mchokozy:
"He is the OCS of Kilimani, he released me yesterday, he is a good cop"
Ashley Chege:
"But pia ako right. He didn't choose him alone, ni wananchi his just trying to help na advise. Despite how many times we riot hawezi toka before his term, Tungoje 2027 tumtoe, but they should also stop the killings to avoid the many riots."
Cheruto:
"Ako na hasira kutushinda."
Collins:
"Good police officer."
Is it Mwendwa:
"He’s a good guy. Shida ni watu ana advice , they are making the scene too funny."

"Bishop. A very good officer that one."
Police officer forced to flee from protesters
In a separate incident, a Nairobi police officer was seen running for his life as angry youth charged after him.
The visibly shaken officer was forced to seek shelter inside a protected building along Moi Avenue after being cornered by the protesters.

A viral video captured him clutching his helmet tightly as he pleaded with the security guards at the building to let him hide inside the building.
It was later revealed that the police officer was left behind by his colleagues, who had retreated after being overpowered by Gen Z.
