At around 11.18am, CCTV cameras recorded a woman dressed in blue entering the shop, located along the busy Keumbu–Keroka Road.

How did 2 women steal from Kisii shop?

According to Citizen TV, she appeared calm and friendly, even asking for a discount on a handbag. Unbeknownst to the shop attendants—who were children of the owners—the woman was part of a planned scheme.

The footage shows her asking to use a phone to 'call the attendant's mother' to inquire about the price.

While on the call, she discreetly saved a suspicious contact number under the name 'Safaricom official.' Moments later, she signalled a second woman, who was waiting outside.

Shortly afterwards, CCTV footage captured the second woman, dressed in brown trousers, entering the shop.

The second woman then called the saved number. She spoke convincingly to one of the young attendants and persuaded them to transfer money under the pretext of 'increasing the business float.'

The two women exchanged subtle hand signals, swapped a handbag, and quietly exited the premises.

Upon leaving, KSh 93,965 had been fraudulently withdrawn from the M-Pesa account.

Stella Bosibori, the shop owner, believes the woman in blue had visited the shop a few days earlier to scout the premises.

“She asked for prices and requested a discount. When she was given the phone, she saved the number 0722000000, which is Safaricom's line. She then pretended to speak to me,” Bosibori said.
Stella Bosibori is appealing to the public to help identify the woman who allegedly stole from her shop in Kisii.

Her husband, Charles Kambaga, added that the same women returned on Friday, June 27, pretending to shop for handbags before disappearing again.

“We urge members of the public to be very alert. These people are moving across the country. We must stand together against this kind of theft,” Kambaga said.

Preliminary phone tracking data placed one of the suspects in Mulot, an area previously linked to mobile money fraud, and the other in Kahawa West, Nairobi.

The shop owners have now appealed for public assistance in identifying the suspects.

“Anyone who can recognise the faces of the women in the footage, please come forward and help us,” pleaded Bosibori.

The incident has reignited concern over the rising trend of mobile money fraud in Kenya, with victims warning that scammers are increasingly targeting small businesses by posing as regular customers.

Teen bleats after stealing from Kamba family

In other news, 16-year-old Baraka Joseph shocked Mombasa residents after claiming he lost his voice and began mimicking goats and chickens he stole from a Kamba family in Nairobi.

The teen was found at Majengo Sokoni communicating through writing, admitting to selling two goats and two chickens before developing the bizarre condition.

He reportedly boarded a bus to Mombasa while speaking normally but began bleating and clucking upon arrival.

The remorseful teen now seeks help to return to Nairobi and ask the livestock owner for forgiveness.
