KMPDU welcomes deployment, urges interns to collect letters
Following the announcement, the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has welcomed the move, describing it as a long-awaited victory for medical interns.
KMPDU secretary general Davji Atellah confirmed that all doctor interns will be posted as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
“This is the fruit of our struggle. We have protested and demonstrated for these letters, and now we must turn up with the same energy to collect them,” said Dr. Atellah.
He added that KMPDU officials will be present at Afya House by 8am on June 30 to ensure a smooth and transparent process.
Atellah affirmed that over 1,700 doctor interns are expected to report, stressing the importance of safeguarding the sanctity of the CBA.
"The sanctity of our Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) has been restored. Tell a colleague to tell a colleague—we are stronger together, in solidarity," he added.
