Uriri College Student Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident: “She Was Crossing the Road”
- A hit and run accident at Oyani area in Migori has left a student at Uriri Technical and Vocational Training College dead

Migori: A Uriri Technical and Vocational Training College student has been killed in a road accident.

The student died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle around Oyani area along the Migori-Kisii Highway on the night of Monday, June 30.
Uriri sub-county police commander Bashar Ali confirmed the incident, which was reported around 8:30p.m.
According to Ali, the 28-year-old student was crossing the busy road when she was hit by the vehicle.

“We received a report of a hit-and-run accident involving a 28-year-old female student from Uriri TVC. She was run over by a speeding vehicle yesterday night,” the police boss told TUKO.co.ke.
“The student was rushed to Lifecare Hospital in Migori town, where she was pronounced dead on arrival," he added.
The body was later taken to the Migori County Referral Hospital for preservation.
Police have not yet identified the vehicle that was involved in the fatal accident.
The Uriri sub-county police boss noted that so far, no one has provided information about the vehicle, as the incident occurred at night.
Following the accident, Uriri TVC students staged a protest, temporarily blocking transport along the road where the incident happened.
“The students barricaded the highway, but normalcy was later returned,” Ali said.

According to eyewitnesses, the student was crossing the road to go and buy supper before the speeding vehicle, suspected have been carrying miraa, ran over her.

The driver failed to stop after hitting her.
"She was just crossing the road before the vehicle ran over her. To our surprise, the motorist didn’t stop to check on her,” said Litet Aoko, a witness.
“She was here to buy food. Most students buy food here, but I had finished mine, so she was crossing to buy vegetables on the other side. Before we knew it, she had been knocked down," added another eyewitness, identified as Veron Atieno.
Those who witnessed the accident said everything happened so fast that they were not able to identify the vehicle that was involved.
As investigations continue, the police have since called on members of the public and drivers to be careful while on the busy highway.
Rongo University student killed in motorcycle accident
Previously, TUKO.co.ke reported that a fourth-year Rongo University student lost his life in a tragic accident involving a motorcycle.
The student identified as Cliff Masoni succumbed to injuries while at a hospital in Migori town.
He was pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Education (Chemistry/Physics).
