The aftermath of the July 7, 2025, Saba Saba protests has left many families mourning, with Kenyans continuing to condemn extrajudicial killings and the excessive use of force by police during demonstrations.

A video circulating online captured the disturbing moment when police officers in Juja, Kiambu county, were seen dragging a protester mercilessly towards a police station.

Two officers were filmed one pulling the man’s right arm, while the other dragged his right leg along the ground.

A third officer later joined in, holding the man’s left leg as they continued to drag his motionless body towards the station.

Moments later, another protester, seemingly attempting to defend his colleague, was apprehended, roughed up, and beaten before also being taken to the station.

Several officers stood at the gate, watching as the disturbing scene unfolded.

Witnesses who recorded the video stated that the man being dragged appeared unresponsive; either dead or in critical condition, and in need of urgent medical care.

How many people were killed in Saba Saba protests?

The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) reported that at least 10 people were killed and scores seriously injured during the Saba Saba protests.

KNHCR stated that they had recorded the 10 fatalities and 29 confirmed injuries that were directly associated with the demonstrations by 6.30pm on July 7.

The human rights body also confirmed that the number was taken across 17 counties that participated in the protests.

Reactions as armed men force protesters into unmarked Subaru

TUKO.co.ke also reported that a group of five men were captured on camera roughing up and beating two protesters in Nairobi.

The men, armed with guns and rods, dressed in civilian clothes were suspected to be police officers.

They forced the two young protesters into a waiting unmarked Subaru and sped off to an unknown location.
