Kiambu: A dramatic scene unfolded in the Ngecha area, Limuru, after residents went after the assistant chief.

The irate residents were captured on the streets protesting in fury, demanding that justice be served.

The deceased, Nemwel Ocharo, was suspected of theft on the assistant chief's farm.

Was Kiambu assistant chief linked to murder of suspect?

According to a report by K24, the residents caused chaos outside the home of the assistant chief after he was linked to the murder of the suspect.

The angered residents tried to attack the assistant chief, who was rescued by police officers who had rushed to the scene.

The crowd questioned why the deceased man was killed instead of being taken into custody.

The area deputy commissioner, Mbasi Kihima, confirmed the incident, stating that the assistant chief was arrested and is currently being held at the Kiambu Police Station.

Kihima also stated that the case has been taken over by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

"If found guilty, the suspect will be dealt with according to the law of the country," Kihima said.

Did Kiambu assistant chief threaten Ocharo's wife?

The resident further alleged that the assistant chief had threatened Ocharo's wife, warning her against posting her husband's death on social media.

"What hurt us the most is that the man killed someone, yet he dared to open his shop and eat well. The other day, he threatened the deceased's wife. He said that he cannot be taken anywhere because he works for th government," one angry resident said.

On the other hand, Ocharo's wife recounted her astonishment when she saw her husband lying dead on the ground.

"When I saw it was him, I was surprised. I didn't know what had happened. I fell and passed out due to the shock of seeing him dead. They claimed that he had stolen," the distressed widow said.

She defended her husband, noting that it was the first time in their years of marriage that such allegations had been made against him.

Ocharo's murder case is not the first of its kind. His death came weeks after blogger Albert Ojwang' died while in custody at the Central Police Station.
