Tributes have been pouring in on social media after the death of a famous tout, Mavela.

Mavela was a member of the team that ran Opposite, which is probably Kenya's most decorated public service vehicle (PSV).

The red and white matatu that runs along the Umoja route won the Kenya One title three consecutive times.

What happened to Mavela?

TUKO.co.ke reported that the young tout passed away at the Umoja stage on Friday, July 18.

A friend of Mavela Elvis Makutsa shared touching screenshots of their last WhatsApp conversations, noting that he had lost a true friend.

In one of their conversations, Mavela promised to purchase two t-shirts from Elvis.

The fallen tout also assured his friends that he would find two people to purchase the t-shirts from his pal.

Mavela had faith in Elvis and at one point voiced out that he would be the one to elevate their status.

"Wewe ndio tunategemea ututoe kwa block," he shared.

In another screenshot, he questioned why God would take away his closest friend.

"God ungechukua hizi frienemies uwachane na huyu Wiz Mavela."

In the screenshot below, Mavela was affirming Elvis of the bond they shared.

"Amen blood know that I am like your mirror, don't ever doubt that," Mavela told him.

He also promised to sell his t-shirts at KSh 1,000 each for the next week in honor of his friend.

In an exclusive interview with TUKO.co,ke Mercy Claris said she was still in shock after learning of his demise.

"I am still in shock. We spoke yesterday in the evening, he even carried some bags for me. Why are young people dying like this? we have been robbed of agreat soldier," she said.

Mood, George Ruto's matatu, debuted on the same day that Mavela died, and the news cast a dark shadow over the celebrations. Tributes came in from both crews and fans.

Super Metro makanga dies

In other news, popular hunk makanga Gerald Mwangi aka Makanga Bae passed away in 2024.

The beloved makanga went viral after a Kenyan woman filmed him collecting money in a Super Metro matatau and shared how smitten she was by him.

He was involved in a grisly road accident and suffered organ failure.

Makanga Bae was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), but unfortunately, he did not survive.
