According to witnesses, the driver of the car died on the spot, while a female passenger sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital.

Shortly after the first crash, a Greenline bus travelling at high speed from Nairobi reportedly rammed into the already stationary truck at the scene.

After the collision, the PSV bus, which had 65 passengers, lost control and rolled several times, intensifying the devastation.

What caused the Bukembe accident?

Video from the scene, seen by TUKO.co.ke, shows how horrific the accident was, as passengers could be heard wailing in pain.

Police have not released a statement on the number of casualties, but witnesses said several passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals with serious injuries.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver of the small car may have been driving under the influence because an alcoholic beverage (a Smirnoff Ice can) was found inside the wrecked vehicle.
