Kitui East lawmaker Nimrod Mbai is mourning the loss of his mother, Dorcas Kanini Mbai, who died in a tragic road accident on Sunday, July 20.

The fatal accident happened at Kithimani along the Nairobi-Garissa Highway in Machakos county. Confirming the incident, the legislator expressed his deep sorrow in a heartfelt message shared on his Facebook account.
"With a heavy heart, I share the heartbreaking news that I have lost my beloved mother, Dorcas Kanini Mbai. God who gives, has taken away. Rest in peace, Mama. You were loved beyond words and will be deeply missed. May your soul find eternal peace. Go well, my dear mum," Mbai wrote.

A photo shared online shows a white vehicle believed to have veered off the road before rolling into a ditch. The circumstances of the accident are yet to be confirmed by authorities.
Messages of condolence have poured in from Kenyans across the country, with many offering words of comfort to the MP and his family during this difficult time.

What happened at Bukembe Market?
Elsewhere, a horrific four-vehicle crash occurred near Bukembe Market on the Webuye-Bungoma Highway in Bungoma, involving a Greenline bus, a saloon car, a trailer, and a lorry.
The initial collision was between a private car and a bread delivery truck at Roja Village Resort, killing the car's driver on the spot and seriously injuring a female passenger.
Moments later, a Greenline bus carrying over 65 passengers from Nairobi rammed the stationary truck at high speed.
The impact caused the bus to lose control and roll several times, intensifying the tragedy.
Governor Mung'aro loses dad
Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung'aro lost his dad on June 15 when the world was celebrating Father's Day.
The governor announced the demise of his 89-year-old father, Gideon Baya Mung'aro, via social media pages, saying he was heartbroken and devastated.
Leaders from both sides of the political divide condoled with Mung'aro and his family following the death of their patriarch.
President William Ruto said the senior Mung'aro was a humble and diligent man who had raised a strong and successful family.
Former prime minister Raila Odinga also sent his message of condolence to the family of Mung'aro.
The ODM party leader described the 89-year-old patriarch as a jovial, selfless and hard-working man who had played a key role in raising successful leaders such as Governor Mung'aro.
