How did Alvin Wambwa go missing?
Alvin was last seen on the morning of Sunday, 29 June, when he left their home in the Flamingo estate around 9 am.
Although he was expected to attend church, he instead went out with friends. His father, who had been away from home for most of the day, returned in the evening and asked Alvin’s sister about his whereabouts.
She informed him that no one had seen Alvin since he left that morning.
Alarmed, the father began searching the neighbourhood, but the initial efforts bore no fruit.
The following day, he reported the matter to the nearest police station and expanded the search to various hospitals, fearing that his son might have been admitted due to illness or injury.
Despite the family’s tireless efforts, there was no sign of the boy.

That tip led the father to the Nakuru Referral Hospital mortuary, where he made the devastating discovery.
Alvin had been booked as a 17-year-old uknown person, owing to his large physical build, which delayed proper identification.
“When we got there, we found he was already dead,” the father painfully recounted. “I viewed the body and confirmed it was him. But because he had been classified as an unknown person, they said they couldn’t release the body until I could legally prove he was mine.”

To meet the hospital’s requirements, the grieving father had to obtain an affidavit sworn before a lawyer, then visit the area chief for official confirmation, and finally return to the police to complete the verification process.
The family is now left with deep sorrow and many unanswered questions, calling for a thorough investigation to determine what happened to their son.
This comes following a string of reported mysterious deaths amid rising insecurity in Nakuru.

The father, Collins Michael Nthenje, reportedly took his son from school and killed him at home.

Neighbours alleged Nthenje's wife had gone back to her parents' home after a series of disputes and assaults.
In a note he left behind, Nthenje accused his wife of engaging in a romantic relationship with another man.
He is said to have forced their son to take poison before taking his own life.
