In her speech, the MP urged the community to prepare for the 2027 General Election, arguing that other regions were already making arrangements to be in the next government.
"I cannot finish speaking if I don't talk about national issues because I am a national leader. Everywhere, communities have started to organise themselves for the government that is coming. Have we organised ourselves, or haven't we? If we don't organise ourselves, you know we will be fixed by others, right?" Emaase posed as the crowd remained calm.
However, the mood quickly shifted when the MP began mentioning ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Why was Mary Emaase heckled in Busia?
Expecting a positive reaction due to Raila's past popularity, Emaase recounted his advice on national issues.
However, her mention of the former prime minister's name provoked heckles from the previously calm mourners.
In disbelief, she asked if the gathering had received greetings from the former prime minister, but the crowd shouted back, "aende!"
Following the unexpected turn of events, the lawmaker enquired if the residents no longer believed in Raila.
"Have you refused Raila nowadays? Heeehe, I wanted to bring his greetings and also tell you to prepare for the upcoming government," she said, as the crowd continued to heckle her.

Was TJ K'Ajwang' heckled?
In a similar incident, Ruaraka Member of Parliament TJ K'Ajwang' encountered a hostile crowd during President William Ruto's recent tour of Nairobi county.
The president was launching projects in the county when a section of the crowd heckled K'Ajwang' at Lucky Summer.

Despite the hostility, the ODM lawmaker went on with his speech, praising the president for initiating development in the area.
Why was Kimani Ichung'wah heckled?
Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah faced a hostile crowd in Nyandarua county during a Kenya Kwanza development tour led by President William Ruto.
Ichung'wah, who doubles as the National Assembly majority leader, was heckled by a charged crowd shortly after he was handed the microphone to address them.
His efforts to ignore the dissenting voices failed, as the unrelenting youths became even more hostile and aggressive, with some throwing projectiles at him.
They accused the outspoken lawmaker of disrespecting Gachagua, whom they consider the region's political kingpin.
Although he ceded the ground and handed the microphone to the president, Ichung'wah remained defiant, accusing Gachagua and Nyandarua senator John Methu of sponsoring youths to heckle him.
However, in a quick rejoinder, Senator Methu dismissed the Kikuyu MP's allegations, arguing the people of Nyandarua were tired of the government's "fake promises and his justification of the lies".

Methu also claimed the people of Nyandarua were expecting handouts from Ichung'wah, but he failed them by engaging in lengthy political narratives.
