Gachagua had accused the couple of being behind the Sunday, July 20, incident in which police officers blocked the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) convoy while attempting to hold a political rally in Subukia, Nakuru county.
He claimed the police were taking orders from the county boss and her husband.

However, addressing the press on Tuesday, July 22, the Nakuru MCAs led by the leader of the majority, William Mutai, termed the claims unwarranted and likely to cause anxiety and panic among residents of the cosmopolitan county.
Mutai further accused Gachagua of unfairly having dragged the governor’s spouse into Nakuru politics.
The MCAs said Nakuru has enjoyed relative peace for some time now and that they would not entertain sentiments that are likely to pit the leadership against its citizens.
"We are concerned about the political dynamics that are going on in the county. Nakuru is a cosmopolitan county and therefore any form of political utterances should actually be done carefully because it can trigger political instability in the country,” Mutai said.
He further noted that the former deputy president should not attempt to dictate political direction in the county.
Gachagua had insisted that DCP supporters in the county should punish Kihika for mistakes he alleged had been committed by her husband.
"Let the political and business issues be independent. Mburu is a philanthropist who has always continued to support the youth agenda and empowerment programs in the county. We have been working with him without a hitch, and we won't tolerate such reckless attacks," the Nakuru County Assembly leader of the majority said.

Similar sentiments were shared by nominated MCA Hassan Duale, who also doubles up as the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Executive Committee (NEC) member representing MCAs.
Is Gachagua trying to control Nakuru politics?
He warned that any attempts by outsiders, including Gachagua, to dictate Nakuru politics and cause divisions will not be tolerated.
"I thank the security agencies for making sure that the recent political meeting in the county that was meant to be used to create despondency among the locals was not allowed to continue,” the nominated MCA said.
The MCAs, who included the assembly’s majority whip Leah Serem, further asked Gachagua to stop dragging Kihika’s husband into Nakuru politics due to alleged vendetta against him.

Nakuru MCAs tell off Senator Karanja
Previously, TUKO.co.ke reported that a section of Nakuru MCAs had dismissed calls by Senator Tabitha Karanja to initiate an impeachment motion against Governor Kihika.
Karanja had asked the MCAs to impeach the county boss following her long stay in the United States of America (USA).
The MCAs, however, noted that despite Kihika's absence, county programs had not been affected as claimed by the legislator.
