This follows a verdict issued by the Kibra Law Courts that required Kalombotole to be held at the medical facility for 10 days under tight security.

The court found him mentally unfit to be held in custody at a police station. The magistrate, Daisy Mutai, further gave instructions that a mental evaluation should be conducted on Kalombotole during his detention at Mbagathi.

Was Kalombotole denied admission at Mbagathi?

However, upon his arrival at the medical facility on Saturday, July 26, the staff declined to admit him as directed by the court.

The institution stated that it does not have the capability and the required facilities to admit Kalombotole. He was in the company of his lawyers Philip Maiyo, Zephaniah Achapa and Joshua Ombegi.

"This is very shocking. This is a public hospital," Maiyo said.

Semingly implying that Kalombotole was denied admission due to his ongoing case, the suspect's lawyers expressed their disappointment, stating that a person is innocent until proven guilty by the court of law.

"Can you imagine, we're here serving a court order, and the top management has the audacity to tell us to meet in court on Monday. A life is at risk. We are horrified and traumatised because of what we have seen," the lawyers told KTN.

The incident shocked onlookers and his lawyers, who called on the medical staff to attend to the patient, who appeared to be struggling.

"He is having a convulsion. Can't someone help him?" One person is heard asking out loud.

Kalombotole would later be put on a hospital stretcher and wheeled away, probably in a bid to attend to him.

Why can't Kalombotole be charged?

This came days after the suspect's lawyer, Miayo, claimed that his client could not be charged because he was mentally unstable.

Maiyo alleged that the security agencies were using his client as a scapegoat to cover up for the real perpetrator behind the murders.

In a bid to emphasise that his client was not okay, Maiyo disclosed the details of their conversation, stating that Kalombotole had no idea how he got detained at the Kilimani Police Station.

On the other hand, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution announced could not approve charges against Kalombotole due to a lack of sufficient evidence, according to Maiyo.
