Two Members of Parliament (MPs) in the county who have been her fierce critics have come out to declare that they will support her.
Rongai’s Paul Chebor, alias Mamba and Alfred Mutai of Kuresoi North have been a thorn in the political flesh of Governor Kihika, accusing her of neglecting some regions.
Why 'rebel' Nakuru MPs declared support for Kihika
However, on Saturday, July 26, they said that they had chosen to work in unity as Nakuru leaders to address concerns over dangerous politics running along ethnic lines that may disrupt the cohesion of communities in the cosmopolitan county.

“I declare that differences have ended today, and when I have said, I have said. Senator Mandago told us not to put politics into the heart, but in the lungs so that when you breathe out, it goes with it; that is what we have done,” Chebor said.
Speaking at Mercy Njeri Secondary School in Rongai sub-county, the area MP said he had abandoned all his fierce criticism of the county boss and will now rally his foot soldiers to toe the line and back her up for the reelection.
“We are children of one person, children of UDA. Our father and leader is President William Ruto. Children of one father may differ along the way, but when an enemy gets into the homestead, we set aside our differences and battle collectively,” the MP said.
He also noted that as a region, they have a huge political fight to focus their energy on, and as communities from the Rift Valley region, they have an obligation to support their leader and ensure that the UDA party is not annihilated.

Similar sentiments were shared by his Kuresoi North counterpart Alfred Mutai.
Why Alfred Mutai has teamed up with Susan Kihika
Mutai said that he had abandoned his hardline views and teamed up with other UDA leaders to fight against what he described as the political intrusion into the stronghold of President Ruto.
“We can’t go to the president as divided; we must have a united team for him to listen to us. Leaders who come to Nakuru to sow seeds of ethnicity and discord will not have space to do it,” Mutai said.
On her part, Governor Kihika welcomed the decision of the two MPs to work with her for the unity of Nakuru county.

She noted that she has been friends with the Rongai MP since the time he was the Nakuru County Assembly speaker, before he started fighting her.
“We fought with him for things I can’t understand, but we have closed ranks, and we are now going to work with him. As Nakuru county,we have chosen to work together to ensure that we deliver on the expectations of the people and continuity of the government,” Kihika said.
