Addressing mourners at the Mito Mbili area in the constituency during the burial of Jonah Limo, a prominent businessman, Kutuny claimed Natembeya turned his back against him by supporting Patrick Simiyu, who won the Cherang’any parliamentary seat on the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K).

The former MP, who is currently the Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO) chairperson, was vying for the seat on a Jubilee party ticket.

"I introduced him (Natembeya) to the people of Cherang'any Constituency at the height of the 2022 General Elections. I apologise for bringing him to you. Even after doing that, he showed me his true colours by back-stabbing me," Kutuny told mourners on Wednesday, July 30.

Both the Jubilee Party, which Kutuny vied for the seat on, and DAP-K, which was used by the current MP, were part of Azimio, whose presidential candidate was former prime minister Raila Odinga.

Meanwhile, Kutuny, who has served as a legislator for two separate terms, hit out at the Trans Nzoia governor over his attacks on President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration.

He said the former Rift Valley regional commissioner is the least qualified to criticise the government.

He claimed Natembeya has struggled to deliver his mandate as the Trans Nzoia county boss.

"Before you say Ruto 'tawe', you should first ensure there are drugs in our hospitals. Our people are forced to go all the way to Ziwa in Uasin Gishu. Our district hospital is no longer operational; instead, we have’ Shakahola’ (Wamalwa Kijana Teaching and Referral Hospital)," the vocal and comical politician advised Natembeya.

He further expressed confidence that Ruto will be re-elected in 2027 for a second term.

Kutuny also declared that he is ready to recapture the Cherang'any constituency MP seat through the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party in 2027.

"I know we rubbed shoulders with most of you because the majority of you were in support of Ruto and UDA. Now I am behind the president and I will run on the UDA ticket," he added.

The former legislator expressed confidence that he will go back to the National Assembly in 2027.

He further took a swipe at the incumbent MP Simiyu, claiming that since he took over the leadership of the cosmopolitan constituency, he has neglected some of the projects he initiated between 2017 and 2022.

Former MP Welsley Korir, who came second in 2022, was also present at the same burial. He said that he is ready to support Kutuny if he wins the UDA nominations.

"I am a patriot and I value democracy. In 2027, if he (Kutuny) wins in UDA primaries, then I will fully support him, and I also expect the same from him because this seat should come back home," Korir said.

Natembeya's deputy declares support for Ruto

Previously, TUKO.co.ke reported that Trans Nzoia deputy governor Philomena Kapkory has declared her support for President William Ruto.

Kapkory made the declaration during a public event in the county, which was graced by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.

The deputy governor has not been on good terms with Natembeya. They have not been seen together in a public event for over a year now.
