Kigame said the case is the first step to inviting the International Criminal Court to take up the issue. It has been presented at the High Court of Nairobi's criminal division.
"I hope they escalate this so that the whole world knows what is happening in Kenya. That Kenya has become a state that kills its citizens, abducts, tortures and then charges the young people for terrorism," Kigame claimed.
The renowned singer, through his lawyer Gitobu Imanyara, stated that 10 days ago, he issued a notice to the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Attorney General.
He warned that after the notice, if the Director of Public Prosecutions did not direct investigations into the killings that have occurred in the country for the last two years, he would initiate a process to get permission from the High Court to institute a private prosecution.

Citing the gruesome murder of blogger and teacher Albert Ojwang' at the Nairobi Central police station, he noted:
"They took Albert Ojwang from his home in South Nyanza and brought him to Nairobi, where they killed him and then lied that he killed himself.
"We have witnessed during the demonstrations of 2024 and 2025, which are entrenched in the constitution, Article 37 and others, young people with bottles of water and placards are arrested, shot at with live ammunition and killed, and abandoned as if nothing ever happened."
Petition filed seeking Murkomen's ouster
This comes weeks after a petition seeking Murkomen's removal from office was filed.
In a statement seen by TUKO.co.ke, the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC), the Independent Medico-Legal Unit (IMLU) and other civil rights groups asked the court to find Murkomen not fit to hold a public office.
The petition was filed over Murkomen's shoot-to-kill orders, which triggered public outcry.
