What are the charges against Hiram Kimathi?
Speaking to Citizen TV, lawyer Dan Kiruai stated that no information has been issued on the charges pressed against Kimathi.
Kiruai also stated that the officer's whereabouts are yet to the established, claiming that he suspects that his client's arrest may be politically motivated.
"We have not been told why he has been arrested. They picked him up and put him in the Subaru vehicle, and left with him. We have no idea where they have taken them. We have looked for him at the Kambakia police station, which is close by, but he is not there," Kiruai said.
He stated that his client's great stance against police brutality in the country could be one of the reasons why he was taken into custody.
Kimathi is expected to be arraigned on Monday, August 4.

His transfer orders followed his public criticism of Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen's shoot-to-kill orders against protesters who dared to vandalise police stations.
On Saturday, July 12, Hiram took to his social media platforms to announce that there were plans to have him arrested over cooked-up charges.
He alleged that the charges were designed to punish him, but stated that he was unbothered.
Is Hiram Kimathi contemplating his resignation?
Following his vocal criticism of the government, he faced a setback after he did not receive his July salary.
Additionally, he stated that he was marked as deserted in the police duty roster, affirming that all he is waiting for is his dismissal letter.
He stated that the moves being made were similar to those that occurred when someone was about to be dismissed.
