Where did Barasa Mukhongo die?
The Ford Kenya party MCA passed away while receiving treatment at Hopekin Hospital in Bungoma Town.
Confirming the news, Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka termed Mukhongo's death heartbreaking
Lusaka termed the deceased a bold leader, a voice to the voiceless, and a servant who never shied away from standing for his people.
"I have received the news of the passing of Chwele-Kabuchai Ward MCA Hon. Barasa Mukhongo with deep shock and sadness. Mukhongo was a dedicated public servant whose political journey spanned over two decades.
"He was a man of principle—honest, firm, and unwavering in defending the interests of his people. His bold voice and grounded leadership earned him respect across the political divide. We have lost a true son of Bungoma, a leader who leaves behind a rich legacy of service and integrity. He will be dearly missed," Lusaka said.
How leaders mourned Barasa Mukhongo
Area member of parliament, Majimbo Kalasinga, also shared his condolences, describing Mukhongo as a hard-working servant.
"I sincerely extend my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and constituents of my area MCA, Hon. Barasa Mukhongo. Until his untimely demise, he diligently served as the MCA for Kabuchai/Chwele Ward. May his soul rest in eternal peace and his legacy of service be remembered with honour," Kalasinga said.

"I join the people of Chwele Kabuchai Ward and the wider Kabuchai Constituency in mourning the passing of their dedicated Member of County Assembly, Hon. Barasa Mukhongo. Bungoma County has lost a brilliant and deeply committed leader whose service profoundly impacted our community. During this time of immense sorrow, my thoughts, prayers, and heartfelt condolences are with his family, friends, and all who knew him."

How did MCA Joel Munuve die?
In other sad news, Kariobangi North Member of County Assembly Joel Munuve died under mysterious circumstances.
Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Kennedy Ngondi stated that Munuve passed away moments after collapsing on Tuesday, April 22.
Munuve died just weeks after threatening to table an impeachment motion against Governor Johnson Sakaja.
