Nakuru: 5 People, Including Infant Killed in Grisly Accident at Mbaruk Area

The Monday, August 4, evening accident involved multiple vehicles in the Mbaruk area in Gilgil.

Nakuru County Traffic Enforcement Officer Allan Ogolla stated that the tragic accident involved a Toyota Fielder, a trailer, and a Mercedes-Benz Actros.

How did the Mbaruk accident occur?

According to Ogolla, the accident occurred when a Toyota Fielder, overtaking other vehicles, collided head-on with a saloon car before crashing into a trailer.

"The driver of a Toyota Fielder was overtaking a fleet of vehicles but was caught up before he got back to his lane, colliding head-on with a saloon car," Ogolla said as reported by NTV.

Following the impact of the crash, five people, including two men, two women and an infant, died on the spot.

"Unfortunately, five people on board the Toyota Fielder died on the spot. They included two men and two women, and an infant," said Ogolla.

According to the traffic boss, all the victims were travelling in the Toyota Fielder and they are feared to be from the same family.

Ogolla pleaded with motorists using busy highways to exercise caution to avoid such tragic accidents.

"We have managed to clear the scene, and flow of traffic is back to normal. We call on motorists to exercise extra caution on the roads," Ogolla stated.

The bodies of the victims were moved to the mortuary, awaiting identification as police continue with investigations.

How 3 family members died in Taita Taveta

In other sad news, three family members passed away following a terrible accident along the Wongonyi-Ghazi Road.

According to the police report, Oliver Mwasy, who was serving in the military, died alongside his brother and child.

Preliminary investigations showed that Oliver was driving the vehicle when he lost control and overturned.

The military officer died on the spot, while his brother and child succumbed to their injuries while being rushed to the hospital.
