The officers at Kitengela Police Station were notified of the tragedy by a boda boda rider who had carried Ithiru to the 27-year-old woman's apartment.

A statement from the police showed that Ithiru arrived earlier; the woman has been identified as Irene Wavinya.

Moments later, Abubakar arrived unannounced.

A fight erupted between them, after which Ithiru was overpowered and pushed off the apartment through the balcony.

"It is believed that a scuffle ensued between the two officers over the lady, whereby the deceased was overpowered and thrown from the house through the balcony, where he met his death. The scene was processed and documented by CSI personnel from Kitengela, and the body had multiple injuries, including the head. The body has been moved to Shalom Hospital mortuary, awaiting postmortem. Two suspects No 232870 Sgt Abubakar Said and Irene Wavinya Nzioka, a Kamba female adult aged 27 years, are held in police custody assisting the police with investigation," the police reported seened by TUKO.co.ke read.

Ababubakar was attached to the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Kitengela.

He was arrested alongside Wavinya as they commenced their investigations.

How Kitui police officer ended 2 women's lives

The tragedy unfolded on Sunday, July 3, when a police officer stationed at Kanyonyoo Police Station allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend and another woman in Kitui county.

The suspect, identified as Police Constable Bernard Siambe, was reportedly on duty at the report desk but left the station with an AK-47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds.

According to eyewitness accounts, Siambe stormed Password Bar and confronted his girlfriend, Joy Mutisya, who was interacting with friends.

When she sensed danger and fled to a nearby residence owned by Janet Ndanu, the officer pursued her.

He allegedly entered the house and fatally shot both Mutisya and her friend, Judy.

Following the shooting, a concerned citizen alerted the station’s commander.

Senior officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Lower Yatta and Kitui responded to the scene, where they recovered three spent cartridges of 7.62mm ammunition.

The suspect later contacted his OCS, disclosed the location of the weapon, and escaped into a nearby thicket; a manhunt for him was later launched.
