Kenya Railways Issues Warning to Motorists After 8 People Die In Accident

Kenya Railways has issued a statement after eight people died in a nasty accident on Thursday, August 7.

The eight who were Kenya Pipeline employees were among the passengers onboard their company's bus, which was crashed by a train near the Morendat Junction.

Did Kenya Railways warn motorists after accident?

In a statement, the Kenya Railways advised motorists to take caution when crossing the railway line to avoid such accidents from taking place in the future.

"Motorists and the general public are advised to take caution when crossing the railway line at level crossings to avoid collision with approaching trains," the Kenya Railways statement read in part.

The Kenya Railway affirmed that it had sent an immediate response team that worked with the police to evacuate the injured to the hospital.

They expressed their sympathies with the families that lost their loved ones and wished quick recoveries to those who sustained injuries from the accident.

"We wish to extend our sincere condolences to the bereaved and wish a quick recovery to the injured," they said.

Kenya Pipeline statement on Morendat accident

The Kenya Pipeline also issued a statement following the accident, stating that the bus involved in the accident was ferrying staff from the morning shift before the tragedy struck.

"Thursday, 7th August 2025, Naivasha... With a heavy heart, we wish to bring to your attention an accident involving a Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) staff bus and a Kenya Railway train that occurred this afternoon on the railway crossing just before our Morendat Training and Conference Centre (MTCC)," the company's statement read in part.

The company stated that all the injured victims were transported to hospitals in Naivasha for medical attention.

They affirmed their commitment to ensuring that all the injured receive the best medical attention after being involved in the crash.

"We are working closely with the medical teams and local authorities to ensure the injured receive the best possible care and to facilitate airlifts for the critically injured. At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with our colleagues and their families. We assure the public and all our stakeholders that we are doing everything possible to manage the situation and provide the necessary support to those affected," the Kenya Pipeline statement read.
