The ill-fated bus was reportedly ferrying employees of the company home from work on Thursday, August 7, at around 5 pm.
Tragically, eight employees lost their lives, while others were rushed to hospital for medical attention.
Geoffrey Wachego, a resident of Morendat, said many people were injured in the incident, noting that most of them were KPC staff.
“The bus was heading to Naivasha. I would like to urge drivers using this road to be careful and watchful, especially for trains, because this place will claim many lives if maximum attention and care are not taken,” said John Albert, another resident.

What caused Nakuru accident?
According to eyewitnesses, the bus developed brake failure and the driver appeared not to have seen the oncoming cargo train.
“The train was carrying coiled steel rolls, and the area was misty due to the rains. That’s how the bus ended up being rammed into,” John added.
Another resident said the train dragged the bus for about two metres before coming to a stop.
“Those who died were seated on the driver’s side; they died on the spot,” the resident stated.
