Samidoh, while testifying before a Nairobi court on Monday, August 11, during an inquest into Mwathi’s mysterious death, said he had known him since he was three years old.

He also recalled the last moment he had with the disc jockey before his death.

"The young man was very jovial on that day. He was excited that he got a DJ job. I remember him saying he would buy clothes for his siblings. I do find his death abnormal,” Samidoh told the court.

"I have known him since he was three years old. To the best of my knowledge, he had no suicidal tendencies. There was no rift between his father and mother,” he added.

The singer was being cross-examined by Mwathi’s family lawyer, Danstan Omari, before Senior Principal Magistrate Rose Ndombi.

Is there bad blood between Samidoh and DJ Fatxo?

He also testified that there was no bad blood between him and DJ Fatxo, the prime suspect in the case.

“DJ Fatxo was my mentee. I supported him musically and had no mission to destroy him,” Samidoh said.
"The only question I want answered is what transpired before his death. I just want to know how and what happened,” he added.

The musician further told the court that on the night Mwathi died, he arrived at the scene to find three women and two men present. Quoting recorded statements, he said DJ Fatxo had earlier been seen leaving with the three women, but without Jeff Mwathi.

He recounted viewing CCTV footage that captured Mwathi’s body falling from a height, a moment he described as deeply disturbing.

Samidoh further testified that he first saw Mwathi’s body during the second postmortem, already dressed and raised concerns over the initial examination.

“I was not satisfied with the first postmortem results, so I sought a second opinion at the DCI headquarters in Kasarani, and other artists supported this move,” he told the court.

According to him, the second postmortem was crucial in seeking justice, as he believed the first findings left too many unanswered questions.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has lined up 35 witnesses to testify in the inquest regarding Mwathi’s death.

How did DJ Jeff Mwathi die?

Previously, TUKO.co.ke reported that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations had ruled out the possibility of Mwathi taking his own life.

According to the DCI, the former interior designer might have been killed before he was thrown from the 10th floor of a house where DJ Fatxo lived.

Reports indicated that there may have been a fight inside the house before Mwathi was found dead.
