After the attack, Kuria rushed Muiruri to a local clinic for first aid before he was referred to Thika Level 5 Hospital.

Upon arrival, doctors found Muiruri unresponsive, and despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead around 1pm.

A postmortem conducted on August 11, 2025, confirmed that Muiruri’s death resulted from multiple injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

His mother, Margaret Muiruri, described the ordeal.

"At Thika Level 5, he was quickly taken in because he was seriously wailing. The doctors told us to go and buy drugs. Then we paid for the x-ray. Upon returning for the results, they told us that my son was hit in the head, chest and was cut into two. They added, 'as doctors we tried our best but could not save his life. Your son has passed away,'" she said, wailing.

The G4S guard involved was driving a Toyota Hilux (registration KBZ 441E).

When Muiruri’s family and Kuria went to Ngati Police Station to report the incident, the guard reportedly pursued them in his vehicle, nearly hitting them before they reached the station.

Police have since impounded both the Hilux and Kuria’s motorcycle, which showed visible damage consistent with the collision.

The mother appealed to the government for justice amid claims of police harassment.

"I am pleading with the government to help us get justice. The doctors told us to seek OB but the police harassed me calling me a fruit thief, something I have never done," Margaret added.

The case was recorded under OB number 12/08/08/2025 as investigations continue.
