In a previous incident, a traffic officer faced bribery charges after the EACC arrested him over allegedly soliciting kickbacks from a motorist.

Police constable Purity Njeri, who was stationed at the Kilimani Police Station, was apprehended on Thursday, March 20.

Probably in a bid to conceal her dealings, detectives found out that Njeri had an M-Pesa till number through which she allegedly asked motorists to send her money.

In relation to the case, the EACC said that the officer had already received KSh 10,000 and was expected to receive the remaining batch.

The giver gave Njeri a bribe to prevent them from being legally pursued over breaking traffic laws.

The officer was later arraigned at Milimani Law Courts, where she was charged with three counts of soliciting bribes through an M-Pesa till number.
