A short distance from the scene, other school buses were spotted, suggesting an event may have been taking place nearby.
This comes amid a rise in road accidents nationwide, including a recent incident that claimed at least 26 lives.

What are the causes of road accidents in Kenya?
The biggest causes of accidents in the country are overspeeding and reckless driving. In most accidents reported, drivers often exceed speed limits and overtake carelessly, putting lives at risk.
Faulty vehicles with worn-out tyres and defective brakes remain on the roads due to weak enforcement of safety inspections.
Poor road conditions, including potholes, poor lighting, and narrow lanes, make driving in Kenya particularly dangerous, especially in rural areas.
Drunk driving and fatigue also contribute heavily to crashes. Alcohol, drugs, and long hours on the road slow reaction times and cloud judgment.
Corruption and lax traffic law enforcement further allow drivers to flout rules, creating a culture of unsafe driving that continues to claim lives across the country.
2 killed as Ena Coach bus, trailer crash
In other news, two people were killed and several others were injured after an Ena Coach bus heading to Migori collided with a trailer in the Mai Mahiu area.
According to the transport company, the trailer first hit two cars before hitting the bus from behind. The injured passengers were rushed to Naivasha Sub-County Hospital, where they were treated and discharged.
A section of Kenyans who saw the overturned bus and the completely wrecked cars expressed sympathies and urged action amid rising cases of road fatalities.
