How did the Kisii drug dealer evade arrest?

NACADA chief executive officer Anthony Omerikwa confirmed that Nyabira, who is facing an active drug trafficking case at the Kisii Law Courts, slipped away before officers closed in.

He described the suspect as a seasoned trafficker who had resumed his illegal business despite a previous raid and court proceedings.

"This individual is a notorious trafficker who defiantly returned to his illicit trade even after our previous raid and court case. Let this be a warning to all drug dealers. NACADA will not relent. We are pursuing Nyabira and his entire network with every resource at our disposal. No stone will be left unturned until this poison is eradicated from our communities," Omerikwa said.

Records seized from Nyabira’s residence showed that just hours before the raid, he had supplied peddlers with bhang worth more than KSh 1 million.

In a parallel find, officers confiscated counterfeit alcoholic drinks from a wines and spirits shop linked to Nyabira, suggesting he was running multiple illegal ventures.

Omerikwa said the raid formed part of a wider crackdown that would continue in the coming weeks.

"Our intelligence and enforcement teams are closing in. He will be apprehended, and his entire network will face the full wrath of the law," he stated.

The five arrested suspects are set to face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act.

NACADA called on residents to work with law enforcement to identify and report drug-trafficking activities.

Officers arrested a woman at a drug den and seized bhang products, including cookies laced with the drug and packaged for distribution.

Investigators said the woman was linked to a trafficking ring allegedly run by her husband, believed to be the mastermind behind the operation.

The products recovered were suspected to have been prepared specifically for minors, a tactic authorities said put the health and future of young people in danger.
