How was Stephen Kariuki arrested?
The investigative unit said the 26-year-old suspect was arrested by a Kiambaa Sub-County law enforcement officer after a tip-off from the public.
The suspect then led the officers to his residence, where they conducted a search and were able to recover a Retay Falcon pistol.
Detectives stated that they suspect the pistol may have been used by Kariuki to carry out the spate of violent robberies in the region.
"Upon his arrest, he led officers to his house, where a thorough search turned up a Retay Falcon pistol, suspected to have spat fire in a series of violent robberies," they added.

The weapon was then seized and taken to the National Forensic Laboratory for a ballistic analysis to help with the ongoing investigations.
Kariuki was taken into custody and set to be arraigned in court.
"He is now cooling his heels in custody and will soon be paraded before the courts to answer for his crimes," the DCI added.
DCI arrests robbery with violence suspect
In a previous incident, the investigative unit announced that they had arrested a suspect linked to robbery with violence in Kirinyaga county.
The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Samuel Kirweru Kinyua, on January 23, reportedly broke into the complainant’s home through the rear kitchen door.

According to the DCI, the two allegedly confronted the homeowner, who was asleep in her bedroom.
They allegedly issued her a stern warning that any attempt to raise an alarm would be met with violence.
The detectives further stated that Kinyua and his accomplice claimed they had been sent by a former househelp to collect her unpaid salary of KSh 1800 after she left following a disagreement.
One assailant held the homeowner at knifepoint, while another restrained the new househelp by gagging her mouth and tying her hands, leaving her helpless.
The attackers then reportedly looted the house, making away with two mobile phones, 50-inch television, a microwave, and the complainant’s sky-blue Honda Fit.
