Enock Andanje: UDA Aspirant’s Wife Recalls Husband’s Last Moments after Fatal Collapse

Manda-Shivanga Ward is mourning the untimely death of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) parliamentary aspirant for Malava Constituency, Enock Andanje, who collapsed and died shortly after arriving at a women’s empowerment event in Kakamega county.

According to his wife, Alice Andanje, her husband appeared to be in good health when he left his home in Imanda village on the morning of the incident.

What happened before Enock Andanje's death?

Alice, a teacher at St. Cecilia Lufumbo Secondary School, said the late aspiring MP had no health complications.

“He had no health problems, not even heart complications. The doctor has not identified any condition that could have caused his death apart from the usual malaria he had been battling on and off. This morning, we woke up well, had breakfast, and he said he had a political meeting at Bulupi. After leaving, I later received a call around 10am saying he was unwell and had collapsed. He was rushed to Kakamega," said Alice.

Alice proceeded to school to do some tasks. Minutes later, she received another call demanding she rush to the hospital. According to her, she learnt of her husband's demise upon a look at the people's faces.

"When I arrived at Oasis Hospital, I saw people’s faces and knew something terrible had happened,” she recalled.

Was Enock Andanje a renowned public figure?

Andanje came into the public spotlight in 2022 when he unveiled a KSh 3 million gate at Bungoma High School.

He had recently ventured into politics and announced his bid for the Malava parliamentary seat on a UDA ticket.

The seat fell vacant following the death of former MP Malulu Injendi, with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) scheduling a by-election for November 27, 2025.

His sudden death left both the education and political fraternities in shock, with leaders and former colleagues praising his dedication to teaching and public service.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the cause of his death.

In a statement, UDA secretary general Hassan Omar described Andanje as more than a political leader, hailing him as a dedicated servant of the people and a strong advocate for widows, orphans, and youth empowerment.
