Bisau, who is serving his first term as an MP on Saturday, August 16, formally declared his interest in challenging Natembeya in the 2027 General Election.

Speaking at Matumbei Secondary School grounds during a women's empowerment programme, the legislator urged Natembeya to prepare for a tough political duel.

"He (Natembeya) is a toddler in politics. His two years in active politics are equivalent to a baby who is just crawling, and I challenge him to meet me in the ballot, and I assure him that my victory will humble him," Bisau said.

The MP also hit out at the governor for challenging National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, arguing that he was biting more than he can chew.

Bisau has twice vied for the Trans Nzoia governorship, in 2013 and 2017, on both occasions losing to Patrick Khaemba, who served for two terms.

In 2022, he was in the race to succeed Khaemba, but opted to support Natembeya as he settled for the Kiminini MP seat, which he won using the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K).

He is now set to renew his gubernatorial bid and is likely to be a Kenya Kwanza candidate.

Which Trans Nzoia MPs support Kakai Bisau?

Bisau already enjoys the support of at least three MPs from Trans Nzoia, among them Woman Representative Lilian Siyoi, Endebess MP Robert Pukose and Kwanza’s Ferdinand Wanyonyi.

"I want to appreciate Bazuu (Bisau), our 2027 governor, for coming to support our women," MP Pukose, who was the host for the event, subtly endorsed the legislator’s plan to take on Natembeya.

Siyoi, who has been Natembeya’s critic, also signalled that she was ready to support anyone out to face off against the county boss.

She accused him (the governor) of failing to focus on the locals’ interests because he is allegedly not from the county.

"I have come to realise that our governor is less concerned with Trans Nzoia residents because he is not one of us. We will make sure he goes back to Naitiri so that we have one of our own leading us," the woman rep said.

Has Natembeya performed well as governor?

Similar sentiments were shared by Sirisia MP John Waluke, who claimed Natembeya had failed the people of Trans Nzoia.

Waluke noted that the county was not enjoying the fruits of government because the county boss had chosen to be in the opposition.

“Instead of serving you, he is busy insulting other leaders and popularising his Tawe shenanigans," the legislator said.

He also asked Trans Nzoia locals to carefully vet all the 2027 gubernatorial candidates.

Is Natembeya's deputy supporting Ruto?

Previously, TUKO.co.ke reported that Trans Nzoia deputy governor Philomena Kapkory had declared her support for the government.

Kapkory made the declaration during an event attended by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.

The Trans Nzoia deputy governor has taken a low profile since she had a fallout with Natembetya over two years ago.
