How was Felix Olwero killed?
He had reportedly rushed to the scene after a suspected break-in without informing the resort manager, Sandra Okech.
According to police, officers from Kombewa Police Station had received a distress call from the resort manager before sealing off the premises.
While securing the rear side of the property, six men, reportedly armed with pangas and other crude weapons, allegedly emerged from a nearby thicket.
In the ensuing confusion, police said one suspect (the deceased) charged at them, prompting an officer to open fire, fatally hitting Olwero.
Did Felix Olwero threaten police officers?
After the accidental shooting, the police reported that the suspects had threatened to harm them.
According to the authorities, officers initially fired warning shots into the air to scare the suspects into surrendering, but the efforts failed.
The police did not realise that Olwero, the resort owner, was also responding to the suspected burglary.
The suspected burglars fled the scene during the chaos.
The incident marked the fifth attempted break-in at the resort. Olwero’s body was taken to Kombewa Subcounty Referral Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination and further police procedures.
Why was Felix Olwero's appointment revoked?
The Siaya County Assembly Service Board found Olwero guilty of illegally withdrawing KSh 2 million for personal gain.
Investigations revealed that Olwero failed to disclose the irregular withdrawal and could not exculpate himself during disciplinary proceedings.
The Board determined that his actions constituted gross misconduct and violated the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
The board, therefore, recommended that the county assembly revoke Olwero’s appointment as clerk for gross violation and misbehaviour.

Who killed suspected serial killer in Siaya?
The incident came days after a suspect, Charles Otieno, was killed by an irate mob moments after police brought him back to Yala to assist in investigations regarding the murder of women in the Gem Yala region.
Sub-County Police Commander Charles Wafula said officers arrested the suspect at a hideout in Kibos and brought him to the station.
He explained that the suspect had provided crucial information, but when the public learned of his presence, a large crowd gathered, blocked the road, and forcibly took him from the officers.
Wafula added that the situation escalated to a point where the mob even attempted to set the vehicle on fire, leaving police with no way to intervene.
