Kisumu: Kevin Mwanzo, the former Siaya county clerk's resort worker, Felix Olwero, has finally recounted the events leading to his boss's fatal shooting.

The 50-year-old Olwero was shot dead on Sunday night, August 17, in what the police described as a case of mistaken identity at his White House Resort, in Seme area, Kisumu.

Speaking to NTV, Mwanzo stated that the police found him and his boss, Olwero, inside the resort and confronted them.

"When Mzee stood up, one of the police officers held him. I was confused. I didn't know what to do," Mwanzo said.
According to a police report filed at a Kombewa police station, the officers on patrol were responding to a distress call that reported a break-in at White House Resort belonging to Olwero.
"They faced Mzee and grabbed his tie. I didn't know what to do. Within a short moment, one officer fired a gunshot in the air," he said.
The distressed worker said tensions escalated, leading the officer to reportedly shoot Olwero twice, with one shot striking his chest.
"When they arrived in this place, they divided themselves into two. The two came up to the main gate, while the other two went to the exit of the thieves. They told me that when they went there, they found three people," one man said.
The officers said that one of their colleagues opened fire on a man wielding a machete, not realising it was Olwero, the resort owner.
They stated that they thought that he was among the thieves.

Olwero reportedly has a case in court over what he termed as a wrongful dismissal from office.

The county boss stated that Olwero had been shot under unclear circumstances and demanded a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
He added that life should never be cut short in such a manner and urged the authorities to handle the matter with the required seriousness.
