Migori: Man Kills Another Following Dispute Over KSh 250

Police in Migori county have taken into custody 35-year-old Milton Onyango Omuga, accused of murdering 30-year-old Tyson Ongacho.

The tragic incident came to light when the suspect’s father, Elijah Omuga, discovered Ongacho’s body in their homestead.

How was the victim discovered dead?

Kadera-Kuoyo acting Chief, Vincent Omondi, revealed that the victim was found lying lifeless in the compound, prompting immediate police involvement.

Chief Omondi said he managed to apprehend Milton Omuga and handed him over to authorities, despite furious locals attempting to lynch him on the spot.

The angry residents also attacked the suspect’s home, setting two houses and other property ablaze.

While the exact cause of death is still under investigation, preliminary reports suggest the deadly clash stemmed from a dispute over Ksh. 250.

Awendo Sub-County Police Commander, Julius Kemboi, confirmed that Omuga remains in police custody as officers continue to gather evidence and piece together the events leading to the incident.

In a related incident in May, police in Trans Nzoia investigated the death of a man who was attacked while drinking at a local brewer’s house in Nashanda village, Kwanza constituency.

The man was said to have been carrying a large bundle of cash when he was spotted by another patron.

According to accounts from the village, the victim had recently sold a piece of land and was enjoying drinks when the attacker pounced on him. He was assaulted and robbed of the money before the suspect fled the scene, leaving villagers in shock.

The community later mounted a manhunt for the suspect. He was cornered, beaten with crude weapons, and eventually died from the injuries. Residents, still angered by the killing, set fire to the brewer’s house where the attack had taken place.
