ODM leader Raila Odinga has painfully mourned former Laikipia North MP Mathew Lempurkel, who passed away at Kenyatta National Hospital following a tragic road accident in Rongai, Kajiado.

The politician highlighted Lempurkel’s role in championing the rights of the Maa community and his significant contributions to social and political change in Kenya.

"It is with profound sadness and shock that I learned of the passing of Lempurkel, a dedicated leader of the Maa community. Lempurkel was a tireless advocate for the rights of his people, a fierce and spirited defender of justice, and a stalwart of the ODM party. His unwavering commitment to his constituents and his passion for social and political change made a significant impact on the lives of many," he mourned.

He further described Lempurkel as a dear friend and colleague whose work and influence will be remembered for years to come.

Meanwhile, before joining the UDA, Lempurkel was a loyal member of the ODM party.

He later ditched the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party for former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua's Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), where he served diligently until his death.

Upon Lempurkel's death, Gachagua expressed deep sorrow and described him as a dedicated leader whose legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him well.

Former Garissa North MP dies

In other news, Former Garissa North MP Abdikadir Hassan Yussuf, also known as Tallie, has passed away while travelling from Australia. The cause of his death has not been publicly disclosed.
