Why was Julius Kamau detained?
Kamau used the courtroom as a platform to launch a scathing criticism of Kenya’s political and institutional landscape.
“This is too much. I will not keep silent. Silence is modern slavery. You call me a mad man, but I am not. I am very much sane, but the people who are in government are power-sick,” he declared.
He warned that continued silence in the face of injustice would perpetuate suffering: “I am going to fight because if I keep silent, our people are going to continue dying. We are being ruled by mad, sick, and crazy people for money coherence.”
The activist further accused politicians of exploiting public resources, saying they have stolen Kenyans' freedoms, lands, might, and their future and have left nothing for the ordinary wananchi.
He also criticised the police for enforcing the interests of the powerful rather than protecting ordinary citizens, claiming they were 'brainwashed to fight for political elites who have no mercy on those who elected them to power.'

Further, Kamau blamed government institutions for perpetuating suffering, citing 'colonial legacies' as a root cause.
Dragged by two police officers to the court cells, Kamau insisted that his protest was necessary to awaken public action against systemic corruption and inequality.
"We must fight for ourselves. We cannot continue living like this,” he said.
However, this is not Kamau’s first courtroom disruption.
He has previously interrupted court proceedings to air grievances against government policies, reflecting a growing frustration among activists over perceived impunity, injustice, and governance failures in Kenya.
