Boid Were mourns father with beautiful tribute

During his eulogy, he paused at one point, recalling moments with his father before asking for justice to be served and those who sponsored his father's murder to be brought to justice.

"Dad, you are my hero, my guy, my greatest supporter. You're strength, wisdom and unconditional love shaped the person I am today. You taught me the love and value of hard work, the power of kindness and the importance of staying true to myself. You often filled our home with joy, and your presence brought comfort even in the hardest times. You cherished our family above all. You worked hard, not for recognition but to give us comfort," he said.

What Ong'ondo Were's family wants

Boid also noted how much he will miss his father and vowed to continue living in his legacy and make him proud.

He also noted that he knows there were suspects arrested in connection with his dad's murder and revealed that they want justice.

"I'll miss you deeply, but I will carry your love with me every day. I am forever grateful to have a father so full of heart. All we want is justice for dad. I know four suspects were apprehended, but we not only want to know the people who did it, we also want to know the people who sponsored it. The people behind the scenes, the people calling the shots, we are fearless, mzee was fearless, we will not be intimidated," he further said.

Police recover gun used to kill Were

In a different report, police recovered two pistols, one of which is suspected to have been used in the murder of Were, during a raid in Chokaa, Nairobi.

Additionally, a bag and shoes believed to belong to the prime suspect were also found at the scene, providing crucial leads in the investigation.

Ballistic analysis revealed the murder weapon had been used in at least three other crimes in Komarock, Kayole, and Ndumberi.

Following this, the driver and bodyguard of the deceased, who were present during the shooting, were arrested on Tuesday, May 6.

Who are the suspects in Were's murder?

Elsewhere, four key suspects linked to the murder of Were were arrested on Saturday, May 3, in Nairobi.

Detectives recovered the vehicle used by the suspects and accomplices during the escape, which was tracked across several streets, including those that Were travelled before the murder.

DCI Director Mohamed Amin confirmed they are pursuing additional suspects, seeking the murder weapon, and investigating the motive behind the crime.
