Njoroge Kinyanjui: Family, Friends Mourn as Youthful Aspiring Kikuyu MP Dies

The family and friends of young politician Njoroge Kinyanjui have been thrown into mourning following his sudden death.

Njoroge Kinyanjui, a well-known political figure who ran for the Dagoretti North MP seat in 2013 and who was also eyeing the 2027 Kikuyu MP seat, passed away a few days ago.

Taking to social media platforms, his friends and family mourned him while eulogising him in emotional tributes.

Nyeri-based budding politician Cathy Irungu mourned Njoroge in a moving post, saying:

"Unbelievable. Too sudden. My good friend and Aspiring MP, Kikuyu constituency, has rested"

A lawyer identified as Victor Omari also mourned the deceased, describing him as a brother in politics, business and social life.

"The last conversation we had was about the Dagoretti North constituency, mutual interest that needed partnership, and the promise of meeting regularly to share and compare notes now will not be possible," he said.

A brother of the deceased also wrote a moving message on Facebook, expressing his difficulty in coming to terms with Njoroge's death.

"If you think writing is hard, try writing a eulogy or a tribute for someone you love. Words cannot fully express how hurt my heart is. My brother, Njoroge Kinyanjui. I don't know how to accept your demise," he said, expressing his deep hurt.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka also visited the family and comforted them at this tough time.

Kalonzo eulogised Njoroge as a great personality who captured the imagination of the country and was determined to change the country for the better.

Njoroge Kinyanjui's last post

A couple of days before his death, the aspiring politician took to his Facebook to pen a heartfelt condolence message for Ngugi Wa Thiong'o.

In a poetic condolence message, Njoroge eulogised the late author while detailing his contribution to the literary world.

"A giant has rested. A soul so gifted. Many enlightened. The world is now lightened. Kenya's gift to the world. He spurred every neo-colonial lord. At home, no autocrat spared. With pen and paper brawled," he wrote in part.

Sadly, condolences also soon followed on his page after his death last weekend.

"You wrote this three days ago, now it's you? Rest well bro," a friend commented.

Njoroge Kinyajui's mentee pens moving message

Njoroge Kinyanjui's mentee opted for a celebratory tribute, saying the young politician's impact on his life transformed him.

"I celebrate a great mentor and a friend. Njoroge Kinyanjui, having encountered you in 2005 when making a critical choice to study Computer Science back then," he said.

He narrated that in 20 years, Kinyanjui's insights, wisdom, and sincerity of the heart shaped his career trajectory and intentions to mentor and build capacity for other upcoming professionals.

The mentee narrated that they traversed the entire nation, organised a National CyberSecurity Hackathon in collaboration with other stakeholders, which directly impacted close to 1,000 young people.

"You sowed a seed of integrity, transparency, humility, and boldness as we pursue our God given purpose. The Almighty God is a master strategist," he said.

Friends mourn deputy principal

In other news, family and friends also recently took to social media to mourn a deputy principal who died just days after she received a promotion.

According to local businessman and politician Mwaniki MCA Mtarajiwa Mukure, the middle-aged woman had an accident and broke her leg.

"Ruth Rurie was my best friend; I really feel hurt. Ruth was a great customer at Rhomwa Digital Baricho, my student at some academic level and a friend of friends. A true friend and a member of ACK, Thiguku Kianjang'a," he said.
