In a tearful interview, Wanjiku said that the supermarket was her investment spanning 27 years, and now it has gone down because of malicious people.

Before the July 7 riots, Wanjiku boasted six supermarkets; the vandalism translates into 300 workers losing their jobs. In her philanthropic time, she gave the deaf bread daily, which is no longer possible.

On her part, Wanjiku said: "I am not a politician, and not interested in politics. How will we educate the students we sponsor. Those who did this may my tears speak for me., may God of hunger find you," she said.

In terms of loss, Wanjiku assessed the damage and approximated it at KSh 200 million. On top of that, she has to pay loans, which she wonders how she will afford going forward.
