Eldoret-based media personality, Eng. Kipchirchir Mosonik, TIET, is demanding answers after his smartphone allegedly exploded in his pocket, causing him physical injury and damage to another device.

In a strongly worded social media post, Mosonik recounted the terrifying moment the phone, which he purchased just six months ago, reportedly burst into flames while he was carrying it in his pocket.
Where was Mosonik injured?
The explosion reportedly left him with a painful hip pointer injury affecting his Tensor Fasciae Latae muscle and damaged his iPhone, which he claims was nearby.

He expressed disappointment at the fact that he was paying the price by having to spend on treatment.
“My iPhone is in critical condition...'explosive' innovation? More like a pocket grenade! Who needs a camera phone when you can have a flaming surprise instead?” He continued with a mix of sarcasm and concern.
Mosonik says he plans to pursue the matter further and is urging the company to take accountability.
He has since sought medical treatment and is reportedly recovering from the injury while urging users to be careful with smartphones.

Phone fire kills 3 children in Kericho
In an almost similar incident seven months ago, three children, aged between four and 10 years, died in a fire that broke out in their home in Kericho.
The children, left alone, had been locked inside their home by an older sibling who had gone out to play with friends.
Residents claimed the fire may have been caused by a phone left charging by the parents of the children before they left.
